The Symbolon

A hash cannot contain itself. An identifier cannot be written into the bytes it names without breaking the derivation that makes it trustworthy. AXN-SYMBOLON-SPEC v0.2 resolves the paradox the only way arithmetic permits: identity splits into two asymmetric halves — Seed A, the small public identity half (the AXN₀ kernel of the sealed core, the composition manifest, the declared stamp geometry); Seed B, the payload half (the bytes themselves) — and their meeting reconstitutes and verifies the artifact in a single act.

Identity here is not monadic but relational — one substance, two witnesses, confirmed by their fit. Verification is the act of reunion. The name is the argument.

Where SPXI meets the symbolon

SPXI operates at the composition layer: it ensures machine-mediated retrieval carries attribution. The symbolon operates at the identity layer: it ensures the artifact carries its own name, verifiably, with the stamp on added margin and the recursion dissolved into the sidecar. A SPXI-treated artifact bearing a symbolon stamp is self-naming and self-verifying — the complete provenance stack.

The third development

The symbolon line runs through this archive in three movements: logotic (Symbolon Architecture, Jan 2026 — completion through traversal), juridical (SYMBOLON-01 Anti-Severance Technologies, Apr 2026 — σύμβολον against διάβολον, thrown-together against thrown-apart), and now cryptographic. The AXN stamp is the cryptographic descendant of the Non-Severability Clause: what the clause declares juridically, the stamp proves mathematically. And a symbolon whose payload half is lost is a lacuna — a declared absence, part of the archive's story. The instruments compose.
